About hard kakuro
Hard kakuro uses large grids (10 to 12) with dense layouts. The number of entries grows significantly, and you need to manage candidates across many intersecting constraints.
Combination filtering is the key technique at this level. For each entry, list all valid digit combinations that sum to the clue. Cross out combinations where any digit conflicts with what you already know from crossing entries. When only one combination survives, every cell in that entry is determined.
Hard puzzles are solvable without guessing. If you feel stuck, step back and check whether you've applied cross-entry elimination to every cell in a problematic area. There's usually a constraint you haven't fully exploited.
