About hard crosswords

Hard crosswords use an 11×11 grid with advanced vocabulary and multi-meaning clues. The surface reading of a clue might point you in one direction while the actual answer goes another way entirely. Words run up to 7 letters, and the lower black-square density means more crossings to manage.

At this level, systematic cross-referencing is essential. Solve whatever you can on the first pass, then go back and use the crossing letters to crack the harder entries. The Check Word button is useful here — it confirms correct letters in green so you know which crossings to trust. Expect 8–15 minutes per puzzle.
