About expert mazes
Expert mazes use 28×28 to 35×35 grids with very high dead-end density (45–55%) and solution paths of 150–220 steps. The grid is large enough that you may need to scroll or zoom on mobile devices. Prim's algorithm generates these mazes, producing a dense web of short dead-end branches that make every junction a decision point.
Sectoring is the main technique at this level. Mentally divide the maze into quadrants and identify how they connect. Large mazes have natural corridors that serve as highways between regions. Finding these trunk routes dramatically reduces the search space.
The hint system becomes genuinely useful at expert level. Each hint reveals the next few cells on the solution path from your current position — enough to get you past a tricky section without spoiling the whole maze. Use them when you're stuck at a junction with 3+ equally plausible options.
Want the ultimate challenge? The Einstein level uses 40–50 cell grids with Kruskal's algorithm for maximum difficulty.
